Edgemont Junior-Senior High School is seeking candidates for a probationary Teaching Assistant position in the Intensive Communication Achievement Program.Qualifications to excel in this role, you must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, possess knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods, and be an effective collaboratorHigh school diploma or equivalent qualificationAssociate's or Bachelor's degreeUnderstanding of classroom activities and teaching best practicesCompletion of NYS Teaching Assistant Requirements (Levels I, II, or III)Must be compassionate and care for the whole child ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will be responsible for supporting instruction; supervising students; assisting the classroom teacher in designing and implementing lesson plans; preparing lesson material; and supporting students individually, in small groups, and in large groups to support student learningRevise and adapt lessons to address student learning differencesAssist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement of IEP objectives, etcParticipate in the IEP process and serve as a resource for the student evaluation team as neededWork with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programsAssist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needsAssist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performanceOverseeing students during non-instructional times including in-between classes, during lunch/recess, and on-field tripsCollaborate with classroom teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutionsAttend training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetingsHealth insurance and other contractual benefits are offered with this positionApply on OLAS
