Special Education Teacher AidesUnified Sports (Basketball)Compensation: Hourly rate per Edgemont UFSD Teacher Aide Unit Contract$22.28/hr - $34.37/hr, depending on one’s assigned step.Description:Unified Sports is a new interscholastic athletic partnership between the New York State High School Athletic Association and the Special Olympics, providing additional athletic opportunities for our students in the ICAP program. Under the general supervision of a certified coach or school administrator, an incumbent is responsible for performing noninstructional duties to assist certified coaches in an interscholastic setting. An incumbent relieves certified coaches of routine duties related to the learning process which can be performed by non-professional personnel. Incumbents of this position may be employed as a one-on-one Teacher Aide assigned to assist a student with special needs. Teacher aides will travel with student-athletes and the team via bus (for away contests), assist student-athletes as needed during the contest/practice (within the parameters of the sport), and remain with the student-athletes until they are picked up by their parent/guardian.Date & Time:Maximum of fourteen (14) dates, including ten (10) practices and two (2) games, beginning in April 2023. Practices (3:15-4:15 p.m.)Start Time: 3:07 p.m.Anticipated End Time: 4:30 p.m.Games (4:30-6:00 p.m.)*Start Time 3:07 p.m.Anticipated End Time: 6:30 p.m.*The end time of duties for away games may be longer based on the traveling distance of the opposing school. Each team tries to plan one (1) “assembly home contest” played during the school day, so two of the four games may be played during school hours. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
