Assist teachers in classroom with the general supervision and management of the class by performing varied duties associated with the teaching process; does related work as required.Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the teacher, which includes lesson plans.Maintain order in all school areas (i.e. gym, locker rooms, bathrooms, etc.)Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.Help with general housekeeping tasks.Assist the teacher in other ways as requested.Attend parent functions at classroom teacher's request.Assist in supervising recreation and lunch periods.Perform all duties to support and maintain an orderly and functional school program.Give students positive feedback that encourages self-reliance and responsibility.Serve as a role model for all students and always dresses professionally for positive respect.Help communicate school rules to students.Maintain high standards for student conduct and enforces discipline according to classroom/school policy and the due process rights of students.Participate in professional growth activities (e.g., professional associations, course work, workshops, seminars, etc.).Share knowledge with colleagues.Model lifelong learning skills to staff and students.Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect, and courtesy.Perform other duties, as directed.Physical and Mental Abilities Required:Ability to work with young children in activities that may require bending, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.Ability to communicate effectively using language and writing skills.Ability to maintain a non-punitive relationship with students and demonstrate fairness and patience while respecting their confidences.Ability to facilitate the exchange of ideas leading to a group consensus.Ability to react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions.Ability to organize and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.Ability to maintain a tactful disposition in dealing with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the public.Ability to move freely throughout the building.Maintain good attendance record.
