Elementary Education Teacher - Grade 5 Departmentalized ClassroomELA, Leave ReplacementEarly March - Late AprilGreenvale School The Eastchester School District is seeking a qualified experienced educator, with an expertise in Childhood Education and Literacy, to fill a leave replacement vacancy of Elementary Education Teacher, Grade 5 - Departmentalized - Reading/Writing Teacher in the Greenvale School. An ideal candidate will have experience as a Grade 5 ELA Teacher with a strong background in literacy and writing. This departmentalized role focuses on providing high-quality English Language Arts instruction, including reading, writing and word study, to fifth-grade students, fostering strong reading comprehension, critical thinking, and writing skills. A successful candidate can:Design and deliver engaging ELA lessons aligned with state and school curriculum standardsFoster a love for reading and writing through dynamic instruction and differentiated learning strategiesImplement best practices in literacy instruction, including phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, comprehension, and writing process techniquesGuide students in developing strong writing skills across various genres, including narrative, persuasive, and informational writingUtilize formative and summative assessments to track student progress and tailor instruction to meet diverse learning needsIntegrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance literacy instructionCollaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and families to support student successMaintain a structured yet creative classroom environment that promotes engagement and academic growthRequirements: NYS certification: Dual Certification Elementary Childhood Education and Literacy preferredNYSED Fingerprint Clearance*Employment Terms:Leave replacement - Early March-Late AprilSalary range: $62,620 - $79,759 (prorated per diem at 1/200th) Step placement contingent upon prior related experience. *Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law ยงยง305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES).
