Guidance Counselor (K-1), ProbationaryWaverly School2025-2026At Waverly Elementary, we are dedicated to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our youngest learners. Waverly Elementary is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Counselor to support our Kindergarten and 1st-grade students. The ideal candidate will provide counseling services, implement social-emotional learning programs, and collaborate with teachers, families, and staff to promote a positive school climate.Responsibilities:Provide individual and small group counseling to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs.Implement developmentally appropriate social-emotional learning (SEL) programs.Support students in developing self-regulation, coping strategies, and conflict resolution skills.Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate SEL strategies into the classroom.Conduct classroom lessons on topics such as emotional regulation, friendship skills, and problem-solving.Partner with families to provide guidance and resources for student success.Identify and address barriers to student learning, referring to outside support services when necessary.Assist with crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed.Contribute to a safe and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive.Qualifications:Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.Experience working with early childhood or primary grade levels preferred.Strong knowledge of child development, SEL, and behavioral intervention strategies.Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.NYSED certification: School Counselor.Why Join Waverly?Supportive and collaborative school community.Opportunities for professional growth and development.A chance to make a lasting impact on young learners’ emotional and academic success.Requirements:NYSED certification: School Counselor.NYSED Fingerprint ClearanceEmployment Terms:10 month, full time probationary positionSalary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule; $62,620 - $86,668, step placement contingent upon prior related experience.
