ANTICIPATED VACANCY:STAFF SPECIALIST – BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST (1.0 FTE) LOCATION(S): Regional Partnership Center SUMMARY: The Staff Specialist, Behavior Specialist, will provide training and technical assistance to staff in school districts and programs related to understanding and acquisition of positive behavior supports within multi-tiered systems of support. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following is indicative of the level and types of activities performed by incumbents in this title. It is not meant to be all-inclusive and does not preclude a supervisor from assigning activities not listed that could reasonably be expected to be performed by an employee in this title.1. Provide professional development, technical assistance and coaching to staff in schools, districts and programs across the Mid-Hudson region on:Evidence-based behavior systems and interventionsSpecially designed behavioral instruction for students with disabilitiesDelivery of instruction and assessment within the Multi-Tiered System of Support frameworkAssessing student outcomes through benchmarking, progress monitoring and diagnostic assessmentFidelity of implementation assessments for key behavior supports and interventions2. In collaboration with other Regional Partnership Center specialists, facilitate district and school teams in: developing and implementing support plans that impact behavioral outcomes for students with disabilities; conducting regional needs assessment and setting Regional Partnership Center goals.3. Collaborate with the Early Childhood and School Aged Family and Community Engagement Centers to develop and deliver training for families of students with disabilities in support of pro-social development4. Collect and analyze data to develop and assess support plans5. Document work and submit required information and reports to NYSED OSE on activities and impact of those activitiesQUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in Special Education and/or behavior support related field.At least three years experience as a teacher or social worker with students with disabilities, and/or as a instructional coach or behavior specialistValid NYS teacher and/or administrative certificationExperience providing professional development and/or technical assistance.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of special education law, regulations, and policyExperience in IEP developmentExperience in planning, implementing, and/or evaluating school improvement initiativesExcellent presentation, organizational and time-management skillsAbility to travel throughout the Mid-Hudson regionAbility to participate in at least one overnight trip to Albany annually.
