Anticipated Vacancy Coordinator of Special Programs (1.0 FTE) TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 12-month, tenure track, district-level administrative assignment.Competitive salary; negotiable based on qualifications and experience.Full complement of health benefits. REPORTS TO: Director of Special and Alternative Education SUPERVISES: In-district program staff: teachers, teaching assistants and l:1 aides, as well as the Work Based Learning Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:NYS certification as a School District Leader is required.NYS Certification in Special Education or Related Service title is requiredMinimum of three years of successful leadership experience in the area of Special Education is required.Successful record of service as a teacher is required.Strong communication, problem solving, and human relation skills. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General Administration/Management Provide leadership and the supervision of in-district programs at Dutchess BOCES.Provide leadership and support development of Curriculum and Instruction for Dutchess BOCES educational programs. Collaborate with administration and teaching staff in the development, writing, implementation and evaluation of school curriculum. Coordinates curriculum committee to align program practices and standards to support quality implementation of curriculum related to specific subject area and student needs, and to maintain continuity of instruction throughout the BOCES.Collaborate with component district administrators and staff to ensure appropriate student program and placement decisions. Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of laws and regulations related to Special Education services.Assist with the planning and provision of professional development for staff Work with other administrators and participate in the recruitment, orientation and induction, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty and support staff assigned to in-district programs. Exercise sound judgment and appropriate discretion in the administration of professional duties.Evaluate assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.Facilitate communication between personnel, in-district staff, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.Manage a variety of school administrative functions (e.g. teacher assignments and schedules, class lists, school policy, participate in meetings, workshops and seminars etc.)Serve as an administrator for the Extended School Year service.Perform other administrative and/or supervisory duties as assigned.
