The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks an exceptional educator to join our Special Education team at the Dobbs Ferry Middle School. This position requires dual certification in teaching Students with Disabilities and Mathematics, and is responsible for teaching and maintaining a safe and healthy self-contained classroom (15:1) for special education students.The successful candidate will have experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and speech/language impairments; working collaboratively with other teachers, related-services providers, and teaching assistants; and experience organizing and implementing special classroom programming and instruction in literacy and our new mathematics program.Demonstrated experience/knowledge in the following areas: scheduling of daily classroom activities; analyzing data to track progress in achieving IEP goals; developing Functional Behavior Assessments and developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans for each student, as needed; experience in supervision of classroom staff; and establishing a positive relationship with family members and guardians.This is a full-time, probationary, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 28, 2024. Terms of employment are in accordance with the Dobbs Ferry United Teachers Contract.New York State Certification: Special Education K-12/All Grades or SWD Grades 7-12 and Grade 6 Extension required; Mathematics Grades 5-9 or Mathematics Grades 7-12 and Grade 6 extension required.
