TITLE:Safety TechnicianLOCATION:BOCES wideREPORTS:Coordinator of Health and Safety TERMS:Full-time, 12 months QUALIFICATIONS:Competitive Civil Service position. Candidates must meet the minimum Civil Service qualifications and successfully complete the exam. Proven experience as:A) graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS Registered College with an Associate’s degree in Health Science, Earth Science, Emergency Management, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field, ORB) Two (2) years of paid full time or its part-time equivalent experience in occupational safety & health programming, emergency management, engineering, industrial hygiene or related experience, ORC) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).*Appropriate valid NY State driver’s license is required. RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:Implementing changes and programs to document with health and safety laws and regulations and emergency planning procedures; conducting workshops, drills and other similar activities; performs building inspections; provides and/or coordinates training and information programs in conjunction with emergency response agencies for school personnel, parents and community groups; documents compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to health, safety and emergency planning SALARY/BENEFITS:$15.50 - $17.24 and benefits and leave benefits based on working conditionsSTARTING DATE:As soon as possible.
