Anticipated Vacancy ~ 2026-27 Cold Spring Harbor CSD seeks a dynamic, student-centered professional to join our Counseling Department as a probationary High School School Counselor. We are seeking a counselor who is passionate about supporting students’ academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and college and career readiness within a highly collaborative and student-focused environment. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, administration, families, and the mental health team to provide comprehensive counseling services, advocacy, and leadership that reflect the district’s strong commitment to student success. Key Responsibilities : Guide students in academic planning, social-emotional development, and college/career exploration. Provide expertise and individualized support throughout the college application process, including scholarships, financial aid, and post-secondary planning. Advocate for students while collaborating closely with teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff. Deliver classroom counseling lessons that support academic readiness, personal growth, and future planning. Present at evening department programs and family information sessions. Participate actively in the mental health team and contribute to a supportive, student-centered school climate. Help foster a counseling program that reflects the district’s tradition of excellence and high expectations for all learners. Qualifications : Master’s degree and valid NYS certification in School Counseling. Experience in college counseling, student advocacy, and academic planning preferred. Strong organizational, multitasking, leadership, and collaboration skills. Excellent communication skills with students, families, faculty, and administrators.
