2025-2026 Anticipated VacancyCold Spring Harbor is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and compassionate K-6 Special Education Teacher to join our elementary school team. This position requires an individual who can support students with diverse learning needs and create an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment. The Special Education Teacher will work closely with students, parents, and school staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure academic success for students with disabilities.RequirementsCo-Teaching experience requiredValid teaching certification in Special Education for Elementary Education (B-2 and 1-6 required).Dually Certified (Elementary Education or Literacy and Special Education) preferredDescriptionDevelop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other special needs.Provide direct instruction to students, either individually or in small groups, based on their needs and IEP goals.Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are provided for students in inclusive classrooms.Monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods and interventions as needed.Conduct assessments and provide feedback to parents/guardians regarding students' academic, behavioral, and social progress.Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.Provide behavioral and emotional support to students as needed.Attend IEP meetings, school staff meetings, and professional development sessions.Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success.Cover letter may be addressed to Dr. Candice Brodie, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources*No telephone calls, please
