Job Description: To supervise, direct and participate in the performance of all custodial and maintenance activities with personnel in the school building to ensure a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety.Ensures that buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly condition in accordance with health and fire regulations.Oversees maintenance inventory records and files.Prepares reports; monitors maintenance schedules to assure tasks are performed in a timely manner.Plans, assigns, and oversees all maintenance worker tasks.Plans and oversees all maintenance and repair work and develops an efficient system for dealing with emergency repair problems.Establishes and recommends, in cooperation with building administrators, priorities on repair projects and estimates the cost of these projects.Assumes appropriate responsibility for general security of the buildings.Responsible for regulating heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season.Contacts appropriate outside agencies to schedule general contracting, inspections, obtain required permits, and arranges for disposal of hazardous waste and chemicals.Monitor building conditions and report suspected problems and/or unsafe conditions.
