Croton-Harmon High School has an anticipated opening for a Special Education leave replacement teacher. The position will begin on February 3, 2025, going through the beginning of May with the potential of extending longer. This individual will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities in an innovative educational setting based on established IEP goals, student needs and best practices. The position includes resource room instruction as well as co-teaching instruction in content area classes. The successful candidate will be able to: Plan and implement curriculum in conjunction with student support department and multiple content area departments designed to be personalized, engaging, and focused on developing skills and real-world applications. Support students in dual-enrollment and interdisciplinary courses.Utilize school and district resources such as instructional/pedagogical coaching to create engaging, future-focused lessons, units, and assessments.Commit to ongoing professional learning and develop and adjust curriculum on an ongoing basis to meet students’ needs and interests.Stay current on best and burgeoning pedagogical and curricular practices.Commit to our district’s Vision Map that centers on reimagining learning, pursuit of passion, and building a culture of wellness in a future-focused system in an effort to develop “What School Can Be.”Plan collaboratively with colleagues and be open to sharing and learning with and from others.Create a personalized learning environment for students that meets individual needs and challenges students to reach their full potential. Have the ability to self-evaluate, be reflective and problem solve.Maintain appropriate and effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent for PPS, school administrators and other staff. Maintain accurate and complete records as required, including progress monitoring. Qualifications Education:Degree in Special Education or similar. Experience:Classroom or clinical experience with school-age children with special needs is preferred. Certificates & Licenses:NYS certification in Students with Disabilities, Adolescent 7-12.
