Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a dedicated and NYS-certified Physical Education Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. This shared position will serve students in both the Union Springs Central School District and the Auburn Enlarged City School District. The successful candidate will provide high-quality physical education instruction to students in both general education and adapted physical education settings. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting physical fitness, wellness, skill development, and inclusive participation for students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging physical education instruction aligned with New York State learning standards for students in general education and adapted physical education settings. Develop and implement individualized physical education programs and accommodations for students with disabilities as appropriate. Conduct assessments to determine eligibility and need for adapted physical education services. Develop and monitor IEP goals related to physical education and student participation. Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and activities to support students with varying abilities and mobility levels. Utilize a variety of instructional methods, equipment, and assistive technologies to maximize student engagement and success. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records, including participation in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings as needed. Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, therapists, administrators, and families to support student growth and achievement. Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages confidence, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to physical education and adapted physical education services. Qualifications New York State Certification in Physical Education (required). Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings. Knowledge of adapted physical education strategies, inclusive instructional practices, and differentiated instruction preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
