ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Masters Degree in educational administration or equivalent (2) S.A.S. or S.D.A. Certification, SBL preferred (3) Five years of teaching experience (4) Experience in public school administration REPORTS TO: Directly responsible to the Superintendent of Schools. will work in concert with the High School Principal. GOALS: (1) Maintain an academic program of excellence that meets the needs of our students at the Pre K-6 grade levels. (2) Maintain a vision of our school that promotes the school’s alignment and support for the District Strategic Plan. (3) Be the educational leader and principal teacher of the Cambridge Central Elementary School. DUTIES: (1) Serve all functions of an Elementary Principal as mandated by New York State Law, Regulations and Board of Education Policy. (2) Schedule all elementary staff in conjunction with the master schedule. Facilitate the optimization of staff use with the school counselor and the principals. (3) Work with staff and community in the formulation and maintenance of an essential and dynamic curriculum based on the New York State Standards and provide assurances to the Board of Education via the Superintendent that curriculum guidelines are being met. (4) Assist the Superintendent in personnel administration, including but not limited to, recommending the best possible candidates for hiring of employees and decisions concerning all personnel in their respective positions. (5) Work with community groups and school organizations so that communication, understanding and cooperation may take place in a positive fashion. (6) Coordinate schedules with all administrators to ensure administrative coverage of all major co-curricular activities. (7) Assist in the preparation of the annual budget by:(a) Screening all staff requests initially(b) Adhering to the budget schedule(c) Make recommendations for program and staff(d) Maintain communication between staff and administration (8) Maintain, coordinate and communicate all facets of discipline in line with a consistent and progressive philosophy. (9) Use data to evaluate the Pre K-6 program and make recommendations based upon the data to the Board of Education. (10) Advise and assist the Superintendent by participating in the formulation and implementation of district practice and policies with respect to collective bargaining negotiations with teaching and non-teaching bargaining units. (11) Assist the Superintendent by actively participating in the settlement of grievances against the District by teaching and non-teaching bargaining units. (12) Assist the Superintendent in carrying out required evaluations of teaching and non-teaching bargaining unit members in accordance with the Annual Professional Performance Review Plan. (13) Assist the Superintendent in supervising employees for the purposes of evaluation and discipline. Further, be responsible for employee conduct in their roles as supervisor. (14) Assist Superintendent and participate in all regular board meetings and in designated executive sessions. (15) Perform other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent as needed. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position. Salary to be determined by Superintendent with approval by the Board of Education.
