Job Description: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and TechnologyReports to: Superintendent of SchoolsQualifications: Current NYS SDA or SDL CertificationPrevious experience as a building principal or director of an instructional programLeadership ability in school administration, instructional strategies and assessment, curriculum development, professional development, grant development, program evaluation and improvement, supervision and evaluation, and educational technology.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Responsibilities: Primary responsibility for the development, organization and coordination of the Pre-K-12 instructional program.Assist the Superintendent in interpreting the work of the District to community residents and agencies including the preparation of school and community newsletters.Leadership in the preparation of curriculum guides and courses of study, and in the process to be used by administration and staff in the recommendation of textbooks, software and other instructional materials.Assisting in the orientation, supervision and evaluation of all certified teachers and administrators.Encourage experimentation with, and general supervision of, new programs and practices, and evaluation of their effectiveness.Provide general coordination of the operation of the school libraries and other curriculum areas.Lead the efforts of the administrative team in the recruitment, selection, assignment and continuing certification needs of all professional personnel, including student teaching.Chair District Curriculum Committee.Implement and generally supervise all summer school programs.Coordinate the district in-service programs including continuing education, workshops, and conference days, in consultation with the Superintendent. Obtain consultants and other necessary services. Establishes and maintains efficient administrative procedures to support the teaching and learning functions of the district.Assists in the development of budgets including staffing needs, instructional materials and resources, and provision for the activities of the district.Acts as District Data Privacy Officer.Oversees the District's program of assessment, testing, test analysis, and interpretation of student performance outcomesCoordinates, develops, and implements the District's plans for APPR, Professional Development, and Instructional Technology, including the facilitation of the District Technology Committee.Works collaboratively with building principals and Director of PPS to determine instructional staffing levels and makes appropriate related recommendations including placement of part-time and shared staffing.Recommends staff for the District substitute list.Makes appropriate enrollment projections and monitors master schedules.Assist the Assistant Superintendent for Business with the development and operation of state and federally funded programs; maintain such federal, state, and local records and reports as are required by law for the same.Guide principals in the planning and implementation of effective programs of supervision and evaluation. Conduct classroom observations as determined by the Superintendent. Provide oversight of ENL and homeless. Attend all Board of Education meetings and Executive Session as needed. Serve in a confidential capacity to the Superintendent in matters of Labor Relations and Personnel Administration. Act as the primary spokesman for the District regarding instructional technology matters; develop and implement a comprehensive instructional technology plan. Assist superintendent and building principals in the implementation of Response to Intervention (RtI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Undertake any additional duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Superintendent.
