The Clinton Central School District is seeking an Assistant Principal to be assigned to the Elementary School, Grades PK through 5 beginning July 2, 2025. Valid SBL/SAS required. Salary commensurate with experience.Job Description: Assistant Principal Reports to: Superintendent of SchoolsQualifications: Current New York State Certification (SAS/SBL)Scope of PositionServes as an educational leader and assists the principals in the planning, coordination, and directing of activities and programs related to the administration of. Also provides leadership in program development and improvement, as well as in professional staff development. Responsibilities:Student Behavior and WellbeingPromote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment aligned with the district’s core values.Use developmentally appropriate strategies to support student behavior including social-emotional-learning (SEL) and restorative practices.Manage discipline referrals and behavior incidents in a consistent supportive manner. Collaborate with teachers, social workers, and families to create and monitor individual support plans. School Safety and SupervisionOversee student safety during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and transitions throughout the day. Organize safety preparedness drills in collaboration with the building principal and director of safety and maintain safety protocols. Assists in the development of plans for emergency situations, in cooperation with staff and public safety agencies.Instructional Leadership and SupportConduct regular classroom walkthroughs and teacher observations to support teacher growthAssists with the evaluation of instructional and non-instructional staff in compliance with current Board and administrative policies.Provide feedback aligned to instructional goals and student learning outcomesAssist with implementation of curriculum initiatives and data driven instruction.Assists with the oversight and management of MTSS structures and programs, including processes to provide academic and behavioral support to students.Serves as administrator for the summer school program.Staff Collaboration and SupportMaintains a commitment to ongoing growth in self and others, supporting and participating in district and site professional growth programs.Build positive, professional relationships with staff and foster a collaborative school culture.Assist with hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of new staff members.Support paraprofessionals and aides in their supervisory and instructional roles.Culture and Climate BuildingLead initiatives that celebrate student success and foster a welcoming, affirming environment (e.g., assemblies, spirit days, student recognition).Partner with student support staff to implement SEL programs and initiatives aligned to district priorities.Help ensure that all students feel known, valued, and supported in their academic and personal growth.Family and Community PartnershipsServe as a point of contact for parent/guardian concerns and work to maintain strong home-school communication.Support outreach efforts that promote inclusive, two-way communication with all families.Collaborate with parent organizations (PTA/PTO) and help facilitate school events that strengthen community involvement.Operations and ManagementAssists the principals in the overall administration of the school and assumes leadership of the school in the absence of the principal.Assist with schedules, rosters, and student placements.Recommends staff for the District substitute list.Assist with the coordination, planning, and implementation of required district and State assessments.Monitor student enrollment and participate in planning for services and class size.Support the principal in managing the building budget, including gathering input on needs and helping align spending to school priorities.Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, with follow-up student/parent contact where necessary.Assists in the supervision of student enrollment, records, attendance, and health requirements.Undertake any additional duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Superintendent.
