TITLE: Instructional CoachQUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate NYS Teaching Certification in Elementary Education (PreK-6), Students with Disabilities (K-6), or Reading Specialist7-10 years of elementary teaching experience preferredSDA or SBL certification preferred; leadership experience preferredExpertise in learning and literacy developmentREPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction JOB GOAL: Work with instructional colleagues to support student learning in the areas of elementary education, with a specific focus on literacy; promote teacher development in the area of research-based learning strategies; support teachers in meeting the academic goals that have been identified by District and building administration.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Pursuant to the overall supervision and direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, the Instructional Coach shall be fully responsible for the following:Designing and delivering professional development for classroom teachers and related service providers;Coaching, collaborating, and consulting with classroom teachers on lesson design, utilizing student assessment data to inform instruction, and implementing instructional strategies learned through professional development workshops;Teaching and/or co-teaching model lessons for teachers to demonstrate instructional best practices and intervention strategies; Provide direct instruction to students in literacy, math, Social Studies and Science both in and outside of the regular classroom aligned with New York State Learning Standards K-5;Work cooperatively with administration, classroom teachers, and building staff to design and implement data-driven instructional practices within the school;Assist the building principal in assessing the effectiveness of the instructional programs in the area of elementary education for the purpose of meeting academic standards and eliminating achievement gaps;Research programs and instructional materials to enhance and supplement adopted curriculum resources; Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional competencies;. Assume a leadership role and work collaboratively with other coaches to create, coordinate and implement instructional initiatives; Use current technology for instruction and data management purposes; andPerform other duties and responsibilities related to curriculum and instruction as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and InstructionThe individual(s) appointed to serve as Instructional Coach(s) shall receive the stipend (akin to dept chair) and shall be relieved of his/her non-instructional duty and provided with 1.0 FTE release time.
