The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving approximately 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of Director of Elementary Education (K-6) beginning 7/1/24.Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, this educator will possess the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Serves as leader and general resource person in matters relating to elementary curriculum development and evaluation.Facilitates, implements, and assists with the development of a standards-based curriculum in all content areas K-6.Coordinates and implements the staff development program K-6.Coordinates the elementary instructional program in a manner consistent with district goals and objectives.Reviews, researches, prepares, and disseminates information pertaining to trends in curriculum development, extended learning programs, and intervention programs.Facilitates the development of the content of K-6 multiple assessments to align with the CCSD Board of Education approved curriculum and NYS standards.Analyzes, reports, and interprets student performance data and makes recommendations for instructional improvement.Coordinates the process of textbook evaluation, selection, and adoption at the elementary level - in alignment with the secondary programWorks with elementary principals in the continuing evaluation of programs to improve student achievement.Interprets the elementary curriculum, its philosophy, goals, and objectives to the BOE, administration, staff, and general public.Observes classroom instruction and provides feedback/assistance to teachers and administrators to plan for next steps and professional development & curricular adjustmentsLeads special projects aligned with district strategic plan. Certifications/Experience:Required: NYS SDL/SBL Certification Experience as a building leader preferredSuccessful experience in elementary education.
