Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Strong understanding of adolescent development.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Strong knowledge of reading and writing workshops and the TC Units of Study.Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Experience with social and emotional learning preferred.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Encourages family involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and families.Leave replacement position comes with a robust compensation package, extensive PD opportunities & the possibility for work after the successful completion of the leave.Certification/License:Required: NYS Childhood Education Gr. 1 - 6 Certification preferredThis position includes a competitive salary and extensive opportunities for professional development.Application deadline: ASAPPlease apply on OLAS for this position and through our website www.chappaquaschools.org (click the “Join Our Team” logo in the upper right corner of the home page).
