Our priority in Chappaqua is clear: to be a learning organization where talented individuals from diverse backgrounds feel seen and valued, and are committed to doing their best work!Chappaqua CSD is looking for a dynamic, engaging & innovative educator to serve in the position of Middle School Leave Replacement Science Teacher (starting March '23) Essential Functions:Leave Replacement middle school Science teacher grades 7 and 8 effective immediately.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Encourages family involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and families. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning (PBL) and differentiation of instruction.Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Be prepared to engage in training around the creative use of space and technology to enhance instruction and demonstrate a curiosity and willingness to explore the assessment of skills and effort through the mastery of content.Experience with social and emotional learning preferred. Certification/License:New York State Certification as a Science Education Teacher Grades 5-9 or 7 - 12.
