POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Assistant Principal in the Oak Tree program works with the entire school community including principal, faculty, staff, students, and families to ensure that every student has the support and tools necessary to be successful. Key responsibilities include:Work closely with faculty and staff to ensure they understand the needs of their students and how to implement appropriate accommodations, including behavior intervention plansSupervise all aspects of student discipline and behavior managementAssist faculty and staff in using evidence-based practices in the management of student needsAccurately complete, review and manage all paperwork related to student disciplineWork closely with Oak Tree Supervisor to ensure consistency and collaborationJob QualificationsREQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:NYS Certification in one of the following: SBL, SDA, SASA minimum of three years teaching experience, preferably in special educationPrefer experience working with individuals with autismKnowledge of the principles of structured teaching is helpful, but not requiredKnowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is helpful, but not requiredA commitment to meeting the needs of every studentA strong belief that all students can succeed
