Job DescriptionMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:The Music Education Teacher will design and deliver engaging, trauma-informed music instruction for students in a Kâ12 alternative education setting. This position requires a strong understanding of differentiated instruction, social-emotional learning (SEL), and the therapeutic benefits of music. The teacher will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support students' academic, behavioral, and emotional growth. Key responsibilities include:Provide music education/music therapy to 5-21 year old students with a variety of special needs.Instruction to include general music instruction, incorporate instruments, technology, voice, and movement where appropriateAlign lesson plans/curriculum to NYS Learning Standards for the Arts. Develop and implement standards-based music lessons that are inclusive, engaging, and accessible to diverse learnersAdapt curriculum and instructional strategies for students with IEPs, 504 plans, or behavioral intervention plans Able to use music and technology to assist students in developing 21st Century SkillsREQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:NYS Certification in Music Education K-12Prefer Board Certified Music TherapistPrefer experience during student teaching and/or internship with students with special needs
