The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school district, announces the following vacancy for an articulate, analytical, dedicated, progressive, and creative educations leader: Art Teacher – Broadcasting, Media, Photography, Filmmaking We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Art Teacher with a strong background in media arts, including filmmaking, broadcasting, and photography. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage and inspire students while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and technical skill development. This educator will guide students through hands-on, project-based experiences in video production, photography, digital media, and broadcasting, helping them build both artistic vision and practical competencies. The successful candidate will be passionate about preparing students for future opportunities in media and the arts while creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. This is an exciting opportunity to nurture the next generation of filmmakers and media professionals. Candidate Requirements Valid New York State Certification in Visual Arts. Proven experience in filmmaking, video production, and broadcasting. Strong command of industry standard video editing software. Opportunities to showcase student projects and artwork through exhibitions, displays, and school events. Ability to teach and inspire students of varying skill levels. Excellent communication and collaborative skills to foster teamwork and creativity. A commitment to student growth, innovation, and the integration of technology in education. Knowledge of various art techniques, art history, and contemporary art. Effectively integrate knowledge of New York State Arts Standards into curriculum planning and classroom instruction. Key Responsibilities Video & Photography Production Equipment Expertise: Demonstrate proper operation and usage of video production equipment, ensuring its care and maintenance. Provide hands-on instruction. Project Leadership: Lead and mentor students in writing, creating, producing, directing, and editing their own projects, including but not limited to: short films, television documentaries, music videos, instructional films, public service announcements (PSAs), Podcasts and other creative endeavors for the school and community. Skill Development: Help students cultivate interpersonal skills and professional demeanors to effectively collaborate as team players on group projects. Photo and Video Composition: Plan and analyze photo and video composition, using lighting equipment and various techniques to produce high-quality visuals. Technical Instruction: Provide hands-on experience with essential software and hardware tools, including instruction in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
