Position Overview: The Brentwood Union Free School District is seeking a highly experienced, visionary, and student-centered leader to serve as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education. This cabinet-level position is responsible for the oversight of all PreK–5 instructional programs, including the district's UPK program. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction in curriculum, instruction, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), assessment, family and community engagement, and extended learning opportunities. As an integral member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, the Assistant Superintendent will work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, families, and community partners to ensure academic excellence, equity, and whole-child development across the district's 11 elementary schools. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and support elementary school principals and the UPK CBO’s program directors to ensure high-quality instructional leadership and school operations.Oversee curriculum development and instructional alignment with New York State Learning Standards for grades PreK–5.Lead the implementation and monitoring of a district-wide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to address academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.Develop and manage comprehensive professional development programs for elementary educators and leaders.Analyze assessment data and monitor student progress to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.Provide leadership in the planning, execution, and evaluation of Saturday Academies, before- and after-school programs, and other extended learning initiatives.Promote meaningful family engagement by supporting school-based parent programs, communication strategies, and culturally responsive outreach efforts.Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to enhance student services and learning opportunities.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and educational mandates.Work closely with the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, Coordinators, and Directors to support consistency and innovation across content areas.Contribute to district-wide strategic planning, budgeting, and staffing decisions.Represent the district at Board of Education meetings, community events, and regional consortiums as needed.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or determined by the Superintendent of Schools. Minimum Qualifications:New York State Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL).Extensive administrative experience in elementary education, including principal and/or central office leadership.Demonstrated expertise in curriculum and instruction, assessment, MTSS, and staff supervision.Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications and Experience:Experience in engaging families and leading school-based parent programs and workshops.Leadership in the development and oversight of Saturday Academies, before- and after-school programming, and other extended learning opportunities.Proven ability to build partnerships with local community organizations and stakeholders.
