BRENTWOOD UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT BRENTWOOD, NY 11717 The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school district, announces the following vacancy for an athletic, innovative, dedicated, and empathetic educator of Physical Education: Physical Education Teachers (3) Qualifications: Must hold NYS Physical Education & Health Certification Successful public school teaching experience preferred Preferred Water Safety Instructor Certificate Responsibilities: Prepare lessons and units that are aligned to the New York State Learning Standards for Physical Education and the National (SHAPE) Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes. Teach children activities to develop strength, coordination and motor skills. Encourage students to recognize the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interaction. Teach group activities patiently that will allow all students to participate comfortably. Instruct children to exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. Develop teamwork, interaction and group problem solving in a fun and challenging atmosphere. Attend staff development days to improve pedagogical skills and welcome assistance and feedback from colleagues and supervisors. Track and record student progress and keep records up to date for progress monitoring and report cards. Supervise students to ensure they are engaged and on task during physical activities. Ensure the safet y of students by maintaining a secure and supportive environment during all physical education activities. Communicate regularly with parents and legal guardians regarding children’s academic, social and emotional skills and performance.
