Director of Information Technology and Libraries(Anticipated Opening) Qualifications:NYS SDL CertificationProven experience in establishing IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and alignment with organizational objectives.Formal training or significant experience in computer technology, networked information systems, and curriculum integration.Comprehensive knowledge of instructional technology equipment, applications, and resources, with a strong understanding of technology integration across the curriculum and familiarity with NY State Digital Literacy Standards.Expertise in developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies to protect organizational assets and data.Strong knowledge of networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and VoIP.Proficiency in data management, including data governance, integration, and warehousing techniques.In-depth understanding of disaster recovery principles, backup and recovery strategies, and business continuity planning to minimize downtime and ensure organizational resilience.Report to: The Director of Educational Technology Services will report directly to the Superintendent of Schools.Job Description:Lead the development and implementation of a forward-thinking vision for leveraging technology to enhance instructional opportunities for students, improve communication with families and community members, and support management strategies for all staff. Director of Information Technology and Libraries Ensure the effective integration and utilization of information technologies across the district's curriculum and instructional programs.Research, evaluate, and recommend new technology, instructional materials, methods, and programs to the Superintendent, including the acquisition of computer hardware, software, and instructional technology tools.Provide and analyze data for curriculum development, grant writing, budgeting, and district compliance purposes. Oversee the management and security of the district-wide network, including the student information system. Supervise and collaborate with the Network and System IT Coordinator and other technology staff to ensure that processes for maintenance and upgrades are clearly defined and followed. Ensure the district’s technology infrastructure fully supports instructional needs by collaborating with the Network and System Coordinator, Coordinator of Science and Technology, and other instructional technology staff (e.g., technology TOSAs, library-media staff, building administrators, Assistant Superintendents, and the Superintendent). Facilitate the ongoing development and management of the district’s Educational Technology Development Plan and assist principals in creating educational technology plans for their schools. Collaborate with the Network and System Coordinator and other technology staff on reporting and data analytics for compliance and recruitment purposes. Evaluate and respond to requests for hardware and software upgrades or replacements. Oversee professional development initiatives related to technology for both certified and non-certified staff. Supervise the Graphic Materials Designer and act as the district’s webmaster. Oversee and recommend emerging technologies, including hardware, software, licenses, warranties, and maintenance, while forecasting for budgetary and replacement needs.Maintain active membership in state educational technology organizations to stay informed about innovative educational technology initiatives. Represent the district’s computer education program through public workshops and presentations.Perform other duties as assigned.
