Qualifications: Valid NYS Teaching Certification and Coaching certificate Valid NYS administrative certification (SDL/SBL/SAS/SDA or equivalent) Experience working in a school setting preferred Experience with the PE curriculum and instruction Prior experience as an AD or Assistant AD preferred Active CPR/AED certificate, First Aid certificate Demonstrate expert content knowledge and success in coaching at least one sport at the Varsity high school levelGeneral Statement of Duties:Work in conjunction with the merged school AD of New Lebanon to oversee all aspects of the BNL Athletics program.Responsibilities include: Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all students. Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions. Building relationships with students’ families through regular communication regarding progress and provide ways in which families can be supportive of the student’s health & motivation. Hiring and training of all coaches and ordering equipment/uniforms based on need. Upgrading his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc. Creating practice schedules around the league game schedules for all the teams. Oversee Athletics in the summer school, and any other Athletic activities during the summer months. Ensuring supervision/supervisory protocols are in place for games/matches. Attend all admin Cabinet meetings and Business board meetings. Working with the transportation and facilities departments to ensure on time arrival at practices/games and that home facilities are appropriate for practices/games. Having a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Berlin Central SchoolDistrict’s Board of Education pertaining to Athletics, and being responsible for their implementation bythe entire staff of the sports program. Updating and enforcing the Athletic Code of Conduct. Analyzing and evaluating existing athletic programs and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that they serve the best interest of the district and the students who participate, meet applicable laws andregulations, and ensure safety of participants. Analyzing student participation and developing procedures to ensure that the maximum number ofstudents have the opportunity to participate in athletic activities. Overseeing all accidents and injuries in accordance with school policies, and applicable laws andregulations, including reporting and documentation requirements. Maintaining records and documents as required and necessary to ensure proper documentation ofathletic program activities, events, participation, and related information for the purpose of complying with school policies as well as applicable laws and regulations. Serving as the school district's representative and liaison to interscholastic league, Section two, BNLBooster Club, Merged Sports Committee, and other sports-related groups. Assisting in ensuring that all applicable laws and regulations relating to athletics are applied andfollowed, including Title IX and other federal laws and regulations, state laws and regulations, andSection Two rules and regulations Communicating with families, other ADs, coaches, teachers and staff as appropriate and needed. Establishing criteria for awards relating to participation and demonstrating excellence in the BNLathletic programs, including eligibility requirements. Promoting programs and events, constructing budgets, and facilitating operations. Attending practices and games (including away games, night games and weekend games/events) to theextent possible, and provide support and guidance to coaches and athletes at such events. Coordinating with the Building and Grounds Department for the use and preparation of district widefacilities for interscholastic practices and competitions and to support maintenance of athletic fields andgymnasiums; making recommendations for the improvement of athletic facilities Other responsibilities as assigned/required for the operation of a successful Athletic program.
