The Briarcliff Manor Union Free School District is seeking a NYS Certified Special Education Teacher for an anticipated position at Todd Elementary School. NYS certification in Special Education is required with certification in Special Ed K-12. Extensive knowledge of Assistive technologies that promote language use, ABA, BIP and FBA and experience with elementary self-contained classroom settings and students presenting with communication needs, are essential.RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborating with general ed colleagues Grades 3-5Ensuring that a variety of behavior analytic teaching (ABA) methods are utilized with all students (e.g. discrete-trial teaching)Ensuring that student motivational and reinforcement systems are managedAttending CSE meetings and other relevant meetings with parentsCollecting, summarizing, & evaluating data on skill acquisition programs & behavior intervention plans, including written reports and visual graphic displays of dataAssisting with development, implementation, and review of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for specific studentsManaging and organizing educational and teaching materials within the districtManaging and working with teachers, related service providers, teaching assistants and aides to meet the academic and daily living skills of studentsQUALIFICATIONS: Highly qualified applicants will demonstrate:Extensive knowledge of assistive technologies that promote expressive language, ABA, BIP and FBAA minimum of three-year’s experience working in an elementary self-contained classroom setting for children with ASD or Communication DisordersExtensive knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, to include collecting, summarizing, and evaluating data on skill acquisitionThe ability to work effectively and cooperatively with supervisors, teachers, assistants, students, and parentsThe ability to plan, schedule, and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneouslySuperior written and oral communication skillsThe ability to design, modify and develop standards-aligned curricula and IEPsThe ability to use relevant technologies, specifically augmentative communication devicesREQUIRED CERTIFICATION: NYS Certification Special Education (K-12)
