The Brookside School in Cottekill (near SUNY Ulster) is seeking a full-time NYS Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Under the direction of the Director of Brookside School, this role provides speech and language therapy to preschool and school age students with disabilities in a school setting.CF (clinical fellows) are welcome to apply and supervision is availableResponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: · Provide individual and small group speech and language sessions to students in half hour sessions as mandated by and following the goals set out in each child’s individual IEP including recommending and/or developing communication systems and developing expertise in feeding based on individual student’s needs.· Document each session contemporaneously according to County guidelines in KSystems, a web-based program used by Ulster and Orange Counties for their preschool students.· Provide daily notes for school age students for monthly submission.· Conduct speech and language evaluations using appropriate tools when requested by Brookside Administration for students being referred by their school districts to determine eligibility for services meeting mandated timelines.· Provide supervision to the Teacher of the Speech & Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Teachers of the Students with Speech & Language Disabilities (TSSLD) if necessary by observing and documenting and signing all supervisory sessions and notes.· Participate in team meetings and coordinate services with classroom teacher and other related service providers to assure that the needs of each student are being addressed across settings.· Provide and sign quarterly IEP updates in IEP Direct according to schedules requested by School Districts and Counties.· Provide a narrative Annual Summary for all students on their caseload for their Annual Review meeting by the due date requested by supervisor and School Administration.· Continue professional growth in all areas necessary to improve quality of services. SCHEDULE: 32.5 hours/week - school calendar - 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, including 6-week summer sessionSTARTING SALARY: $ 60,000 to $ 66,000 per year Minimum Requirements:NYS License in Speech & Language Pathology with a NYS certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech & Language Disabilities (TSSLD).Computer experience including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.Excellent communication skills to be able to articulate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Establish and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all internal staff and external stakeholders.Experience with both preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
