Requirements: NYS Certification in SWD, Grades 6-8; Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the following are required: NYS Learning Standards and curriculum design, delivery, and assessment for secondary education; Effective instructional practices for specially designed instruction and the delivery of special education services for students with disabilities in general education settings and special class settings; Effective, student centered classroom management strategies; Differentiated instruction to support the needs of diverse learners in the classroom;Culturally responsive instructional practices support student learning needs; Integration of technology to plan, deliver, and assess student learning; Use of summative and formative student data to inform instructional decisions and student progress; Effective strategies for student and family engagement; Knowledge/experience with IEP Direct for development, implementation and progress monitoring of student’s IEP’s; Prior experience in middle school level education desired; Background in Science curriculum preferred.
