The Beacon City School District is accepting applications for an anticipated opening for an Elementary Special Education Teacher with the following: Requirements:Valid NYS Certification in Special Education Grades K-2, Grades 1-6, or K-12 Special Education;Dual certification with Childhood Education (K-2, 1-6) or Elementary Education, desired;Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the following are required:Elementary Special Education teacher for Special Class setting: 1:12:1 Or 1:6:1 Or Integrated Co- Taught classroomNYS Learning Standards and curriculum design, delivery, and assessment for Grades K-6;Planning and delivery of Specially Designed Instruction to support individual student academic, behavioral, physical and management needs;Effective, student centered classroom management strategies & individual interventions;IEP development and use of IEP Direct for record-keeping and documentation of student progress;Culturally responsive instructional practices for elementary classrooms;Integration of technology to plan, deliver, and assess student learning;Use of summative and formative student data to inform instructional decisions and student progress for (IEPs, RTI for reading and Math interventions, FBA/BIP);Effective strategies for student and family engagement;Prior experience and training in implementing multicultural education and culturally responsive practices desired;Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, required; 3-5 years prior teaching experience, desired.
