Elementary 6:1:1 Special Education Teacher About Us Our school district is committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students. Our 6:1:1 classroom offers a supportive environment with a low student-to-staff ratio to ensure individualized attention for each student. Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead our elementary 6:1:1 classroom. In this role, you will work with students who have significant learning, behavioral, and/or developmental needs. The 6:1:1 ratio represents 6 students, 1 teacher, and 1 teaching aide, creating an environment conducive to personalized learning and growth. Key Responsibilities Create personalized learning experiences that address individual needs while emphasizing student growth and achievement Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly Collaborate with a teaching assistant to maximize classroom effectiveness Work with related service providers (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress Implement behavior management strategies and positive interventions Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, focused on student-strengths and growth opportunities Adapt curriculum materials to meet individual student needs Build supportive partnerships with families to create consistent learning environments Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's preferred) Valid state certification in Special Education Experience working with students with significant disabilities Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices for students with special needs Understanding of behavior management techniques and positive behavior supports Strong collaborative and communication skills Patience, empathy, and dedication to student success How to Apply Please submit your resume, cover letter, teaching certification, and three professional references to James Bennefield, Superintendent of Schools, Argyle Central School.
