Ardsley High School is seeking a dynamic and versatile French Foreign Language Teacher for a position for the 2026-2027 school year. NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that develop proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures. This teacher will create an inclusive classroom environment and use a communicative approach to help students build real-world language skills. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in French at various proficiency levels Develop students' language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Incorporate cultural content and authentic materials into lessons Use a communicative and interactive approach to language instruction Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and professional development QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in French, World Languages, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) Demonstrated proficiency in French (native or near-native fluency preferred) Experience teaching at the high school level preferred Strong understanding of language acquisition and communicative teaching methods Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment CERTIFICATION: NYS teaching certification in French 7-12 EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by building administration.
