The Ardsley School District is seeking a highly qualified and experienced leader to serve as Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach. This position requires a dynamic individual who understands the role of interscholastic athletics in developing student-athletes and strengthening the school community. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the boys basketball program, establishing a clear vision centered on competitive excellence, player development, and character. The Head Coach will be responsible for building a cohesive program, fostering alignment across all levels, and promoting a culture rooted in positivity, accountability, discipline, sportsmanship and respect. QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive knowledge of basketball fundamentals, offensive/defensive systems, and player development Previous successful experience as a head or assistant basketball coach at the high school or collegiate level Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and mentor coaching staff Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Proven commitment to academic and athletic success of student-athletes Ability to build and sustain a positive, inclusive, and competitive program culture Interested candidates should possess or be willing to obtain the necessary coaching certification requirements from NYSED. POSITION SUMMARY: The Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, organization, and direction of the basketball program. This includes oversight of all levels (Varsity, JV, Modified), development of coaching staff, implementation of program philosophy, and ensuring alignment with district and athletic department expectations. The Head Coach serves as the primary representative of the program and plays a key role in building school pride and community engagement. RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Leadership & Development Establish and communicate a clear vision, philosophy, and expectations for the entire basketball program Ensure alignment across all levels in terminology, systems, and player development progression Lead and mentor assistant and sub-varsity coaches Instruction & Team Management Plan, organize, and implement all varsity practices, games, and team activities Develop offensive and defensive systems, game strategies, and player rotations Evaluate team and individual performance and make adjustments throughout the season Student-Athlete Development Promote academic accountability and monitor eligibility, attendance, and conduct Serve as a positive role model, emphasizing leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship Build a culture that prioritizes positivity, effort, discipline, and continuous improvement Compliance & Operations Ensure compliance with all district policies and regulations set by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Follow all procedures related to injuries, medical clearance, and emergency protocols Communication & Community Engagement Maintain consistent and professional communication with student-athletes, families, staff, and administration Represent the basketball program in a positive and professional manner within the school and community Support and contribute to athletic department initiatives, events, and school-wide activities Winter Season Start Date: November 16, 2026 In addition to applying on OLAS, you must also apply on our website at www.ardsleyschools.org (click on Careers).
