Ardsley High School is seeking an English Teacher for an anticipated position for the 2026-2027 school year. NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: Ardsley High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to inspire students through the study of literature, writing, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate will design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops students' reading comprehension, analytical skills, and written and oral communication. This teacher will foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, intellectual curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for literature. This teacher will work well within a well-established department, working towards and helping develop initiatives in students growth in reading, writing and speaking. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and deliver engaging lessons in literature, writing, grammar, and language skills aligned with New York State standards Teach a range of courses, which may include Regents-level and advanced or elective English classes Develop students' critical thinking, reading comprehension, and analytical writing skills Design and implement assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners Incorporate a variety of texts, including classic and contemporary literature Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and professional learning opportunities QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) Experience teaching high school English preferred Strong knowledge of literature, writing instruction, and curriculum development Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse backgrounds and abilities Commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a supportive learning environment CERTIFICATION: NYS teaching certificate in English Language Arts (ELA) EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by building administration.
