Middle-School Science Teacher, NYS CertifiedThe Alexandria Central School District is accepting applications for a tenure track, Middle School Science teaching position for September 1, 2022.A Probationary appointment will be based on certification and education, NYS Education Laws, and the ACFA Teacher’s contract.We are seeking a passionate educator most interested in engaging our students, creating meaningful learning experiences, developing students’ abilities, and fostering critical thinking skills. The candidate will provide appropriate learning activities and experiences in assigned Middle School Science classes and High School electives, motivating students to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and social growth. General responsibilities in this role include:Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the NYS Science curriculum.Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students. Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect an understanding of the diverse learning styles and needs of students.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.Work cooperatively with Special Education teachers to modify curricula as needed for Special Education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Be a positive and professional role model for students and support our school mission.Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure, and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown.Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, administration, and community members.Demonstrate leadership, take an active role in our school; pursue opportunities for extracurricular activities, clubs, committees, athletics, or other student engagements. ACS is a rural school district located in the heart of the Thousands Islands region of the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, NY. The school district has a UPK-12 population of over 550 students housed in one building with a staff of 75 full-time personnel. Our school is the hub of the community where most civic, social, and cultural activities take place.
