Alexandria Central School is currently seeking highly qualified (NYS certified) applicants for an anticipated full-time vacancy as a Secondary Science teacher in the 2026-2027 School Year. A Probationary appointment will be based on valid New York State Certification or eligibility for certification, NYS Education Laws, and the ACFA Teachers’ contract. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about inspiring curiosity, fostering scientific inquiry, and helping students develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for success both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the New York State P–12 Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS), creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage exploration, collaboration, and hands-on discovery. This educator will cultivate a positive, inclusive classroom culture where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported in reaching their full potential. We are seeking a collaborative professional who builds strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, embraces continuous growth, and utilizes evidence-based instructional practices to meet the diverse needs of learners. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging instruction aligned with the New York State P–12 Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS). Develop inquiry-based, phenomenon-driven lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific reasoning. Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports student engagement, collaboration, and academic success. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners. Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions. Integrate educational technology and digital resources to enhance student learning and engagement. Maintain safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environments while implementing all laboratory safety procedures and regulations. Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, analyze student data, and improve instructional practices through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress, expectations, and classroom activities. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, curriculum initiatives, and district committees. Maintain accurate student records and fulfill all instructional and professional responsibilities in accordance with district expectations. Support school-wide initiatives that promote positive school culture, student achievement, and continuous improvement. Alexandria Central School District is a rural district in the heart of the Thousand Islands region, serving about 500 students in a UPK-12 setting.
