Valley Stream District #30VACANCY FOR 2025-2026FULL TIME POSITION [PROBATIONARY]Elementary Assistant PrincipalWe are seeking a highly educated and qualified educational leader to serve as assistant principal of Shaw Avenue Elementary School (Pre-K-6). The Shaw Avenue Elementary School is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence ranked among the best schools in the country. The successful candidate will demonstrate high-quality transformational, emotional intelligence, and collaborative leadership practices and skills in executing the essential duties and responsibilities outlined below. This position reports to the Principal and is provided a four-year probationary appointment. This position is a part of the Valley Stream Council of Supervisory Associations. The duties, responsibilities, and other functions as assigned by the Principal, the Superintendent of Schools, and/or designee, are listed below. Valley Stream 30 is a district committed to high expectations, differentiated instruction, and a 21st-century, inclusive curriculum aligned to NYSED standards. This is a fast-paced leadership role that requires:Drives instructional and data-based practicesExperience working in culturally and linguistically diverse communitiesDeep understanding of social-emotional learning and student mental well-beingStrong adaptive leadership skills that stabilize and strengthen existing systemsEngages in caring, courageous conversations with staff and families in service of student learningPrioritizes students and the community, leading with humility while focusing on uniting the school around a shared purpose and student success.Starting date: On or about August 1, 2025Qualifications:NYS Certification SBL/SAS/SDA - and Teacher SWD (preferred)Minimum 4-5 years of experience as an AdministratorRequirements|Collaborate with the principal to sustain an inclusive school community where every student feels accepted, respected, and supported as a valued, active member.Partner with staff to ensure high-quality, differentiated instruction across all classrooms, with targeted support for students in self-contained settings.Use achievement, progress, and behavioral data to support continuous improvement and drive data-informed decision-making.Assist in developing and managing schoolwide schedules, including arrival/dismissal, lunch, related services, and testing.Work with the principal to strategically schedule staff and assign roles to meet student needs.Foster clear, caring, and responsive communication and collaboration with families, staff, and the broader school community.Partner with leadership to strengthen curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices that promote academic success, a love of learning, and student agency.Lead the integration of Enrichment, Arts in Education, Multi-Tiered Support System, and Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education across school and district initiatives.Empower staff with shared responsibility for meeting the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of every student.Promote inclusive environments and programs by ensuring all students have access to effective instruction, support services, and resources needed for success.Nurture the social, emotional, and physical well-being of students and staff through a supportive and inclusive school culture.Model and promote professional norms of integrity, fairness, transparency, collaboration, perseverance, and continuous learning.Create a 21st-century learning environment where students and teachers use technology in innovative ways to enrich teaching and learning.Salary: TBD - Negotiable based on experienceDeadline Date: 07/9/2025Interested candidates should apply on the Online Application System (OLAS) at www.olasjobs.org/longisland Please address online cover letters to: Marcela Moran, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Human Resources
