ADMINISTRATIVE VACANCY ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES & SPECIAL EDUCATION The Assistant Director supports the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education by providing leadership in the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of a district-wide program of special education and related services. Certification: School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification, along with certification in Special Education, School Psychology, School Social Work, any of the Students with Disabilities areas, or other Pupil Personnel Services areas. Qualifications:Master’s degree or higher in psychology, speech-language pathology, special education, or a related field from an accredited college or universityValid New York State administrative certification1–3 years of successful experience in public school administration and supervisionMinimum of five years of experience in Special Education and/or Pupil Personnel ServicesDemonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staffStrong understanding of the needs of multicultural and diverse student populationsKnowledge and experience in chairing CSE and 504 meetingsExperience in developing, writing, and finalizing IEPs and 504 PlansFamiliarity with out-of-district placements and related proceduresProven ability to facilitate and lead professional development for staffKnowledge of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and mental health programs and servicesExperience with departmental budgeting and grant managementWorking knowledge and practical application of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)Demonstrated ability to foster effective team building and collaboration across departmentsSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
