Freeport Public Schools ELA Leave Replacement Teacher (High School) Anticipated Start Date: December 22, 2025 Location: Freeport High School Position Type: Full-Time Leave ReplacementFreeport Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and student-centered ELA Leave Replacement Teacher to join the English Department at Freeport High School. The ideal candidate will possess strong instructional skills, a commitment to academic excellence, and the ability to deliver rigorous English Language Arts instruction—including Advanced Placement (AP) Literature and Composition.Qualifications:New York State Certification in English Language Arts (Grades 7–12) required.Demonstrated experience teaching high school ELA courses.Prior experience teaching AP Literature and Composition strongly preferred.Strong understanding of AP College Board standards, curriculum, and assessment expectations.Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.Ability to create an engaging, supportive, and academically challenging learning environment.Responsibilities:Teach high school ELA courses, including AP Literature and Composition.Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and AP College Board frameworks.Assess and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues.Collaborate with department staff to support curriculum alignment and instructional best practices.Fulfill all responsibilities of a classroom teacher during the leave replacement period.Application Procedure:Interested candidates should submit an application through OLAS, including:Letter of interestCurrent résuméCopies of certificationThree professional references
