The Waterville School District has a full time Social Worker position beginning as soon as possible. The position involves working with both general education and special education students in middle/high school. Job responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to the following: Provide direct counseling services to students utilizing a variety of research-based approaches Develop intervention strategies to improve student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes Provide crisis intervention to students and educational teams including suicide assessments Conduct counseling evaluations for students being considered for social work services Attend and contribute to various school teams including the Instructional Support Team (IST), Committee on Special Education (CSE) and Section 504 committee Complete classroom observations, prepare social history reports, complete social-emotional rating scales, and more upon request by the IST, 504 or CSE IEP responsibilities include entering information regarding social development, drafting IEP goals, and progress monitoring IEP goals according to the evaluation schedule Assist parents in accessing programs and resources relevant to their child’s needs Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, parents, and community providers to understand and meet the needs of students
