The Watertown City School District is currently accepting applications for a 12-month Administrative Assistant/Senior Typist in the Transportation Department. Excellent benefits to include health, vision and dental insurance, NYS retirement and paid time off. $18.60/hour = $36,270/year.The Senior Typist – Transportation position in the Watertown City School District plays a vital role in supporting safe, efficient, and student-centered transportation services in collaboration with First Student. This position serves as a key point of contact for families, school staff, and transportation partners, providing accurate information, timely communication, and high-quality customer service. The Senior Typist supports daily transportation operations through careful data management, coordination of student transportation needs, and responsiveness to changing schedules, and must be proficient in the use of computer programs and databases to ensure accuracy, efficiency, confidentiality, and professionalism. This role requires a positive, solutions-oriented approach that reflects the District’s commitment to students and families. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York state registered college, business college, or a secretarial school with associate's degree in secretarial science, office management, office technologies, word processing, or a closely related field which shall have included or supplemented by a course of keyboarding and one (1) year of clerical experience; OR(B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of clerical experience which shall have involved keyboarding: OR(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.Must be reachable on the City of Watertown Civil Service Eligibility List for Senior Typist otherwise be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law. It is not a requirement to have already taken the Senior Typist Exam. EOE
