The Watertown City School District has an opening for a permanent Student Success Teaching Assistant for the 2024-2025 school year. The Student Success Specialist Teacher Assistant will work closely with the Student Success Specialist to collect student behavior data within a variety of school settings. This is a full-time position (6.5 hrs/day) with full benefits: paid time off, health, vision, dental and NYS Retirement.The Student Success Specialist - Teacher Assistant will work under the guidance of the Student Success Specialist to support students with challenging behaviors in the classroom setting. Here's a breakdown of the responsibilities:Working under the Student Support Specialist: This means following their lead and guidance in supporting students with challenging behaviors.Conducting Classroom Observations: Observing students in the classroom environment to identify behaviors and patterns.Collecting Behavioral Data: Documenting observations and gathering data on student behaviors to inform intervention strategies.Sharing Data with the Student Support Specialist: Communication is key. Providing the collected data to the Student Support Specialist ensures they have the necessary information to develop effective intervention plans.Collaborating with the Student Support Specialist: Working together to implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) effectively. This may involve providing input, feedback, and support in the implementation process.Modeling BIP Implementation: Demonstrating how to effectively implement BIPs to classroom teachers, aides, and assistants. This could involve providing guidance and support as needed.Collecting Follow-Up Data: After the implementation of the BIP, continuing to gather data to monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention.Overall, this role requires a combination of observation skills, data collection and analysis, collaboration, and communication to support students with challenging behaviors effectively.A valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certificate or NYS Teaching Certificate is required to be considered.
