About Our District: The Wantagh School District prides itself on educating the whole student through its focus on academic excellence as well as social skills and respect for others. Required Qualifications: NYS Special Education Certification Position Details: The successful candidate must be driven, flexible and adaptable, as teaching responsibilities include leading instruction for our students in a special class setting (8:1:1). This is a full-year salaried position. Full salary begins mid October. Additionally, the successful candidate should posess the following: Ability to design and deliver differentiated instruction: Modify and implement core elementary curriculum aligned with state standards to meet the diverse academic, developmental, and cognitive needs of a small-group setting (8:1:1). Ability to provide a learning environment that supports the social-emotional well-being of all students and challenge them to work to the best of their ability. Strong knowledge of instructional technology Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with students, families and faculty. Familiarity with curricular modifications for individualized instruction Promote social development within the school setting Capacity to work collaboratively with related service providers, SLP, OT, PT, Psychologist, and BCBA Has understanding the effective utilization of classroom aides and 1:1 aides Implementation of Behavior Interventions, Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) teaching methods, assist with conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA’s), follow Behavior Intervention Plans and positive support plans.
