The district, located just 25 miles east of New York City in Wantagh, NY, includes three elementary schools (K-5), one New York State Essential Elements School to Watch middle school (6-8), and one National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence high school (9-12).Position Details: The successful candidate must have experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing and have knowledge and experience working with students classified with FM systems and cochlear implants.Designs and carries out lesson plans in order to achieve the goals stated in each students’ Individualized Education Plan and incorporating NYS Standards.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other teachers is necessary.Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate to the age and cognitive level of the students enhanced with data-driven instruction.Provides direction to classroom teacher.Works and communicates effectively with families.Records, reports, and interprets the behavior and progress of students, making necessary program modifications throughout the school.Participates in various teacher-related meetings and in-service sessions.Communicates effectively with related staff personnel to ensure collaboration amongst all.Communicates effectively and proactively with Administration.Writes quarterly and annual reports, IEP goals for the upcoming school year and participates in CSE meetings.Requirements:NYS Certification, Deaf and Hard of Hearing.Dual certification in a related field (Ex. Reading, Special Education, Speech and Language).NYS K-12 Fingerprint Clearance
