The district, located just 25 miles east of New York City in Wantagh, NY, includes three elementary schools (K-5), one New York State Essential Elements School to Watch middle school (6-8), and one National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence high school (9-12).The successful candidate must be driven, flexible and adaptable, as teaching responsibilities include leading instruction for our students in a special class ABA setting. This is a salaried leave replacement position. Additionally, the successful candidate should possess the following:Knowledge and experience practicing differentiated instruction at all levels of academic ability.Ability to provide a learning environment that supports the social-emotional well-being of all students and challenge them to work to the best of their ability.Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with students, families and faculty.Familiarity with curricular modifications for individualized instruction Competence to promote social development within the school setting.Ability to work collaboratively with related service providers, SLP, OT, PT, BCBA, and Psychologist.Strong understanding of the effective utilization of classroom aides and 1:1 aides to support student engagement and independence.Knowledge and application of evidence-based behavior intervention strategies in line with ABA principles.Requirements:NYS Special Education CertificationNYS K-12 Fingerprint Clearance
