The Wantagh School District prides itself on educating the whole student through its focus on academic excellence as well as social skills and respect for others. The district, located just 25 miles east of New York City in Wantagh, NY, includes three elementary schools (K-5), one New York State Essential Elements School to Watch middle school (6-8), and one National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence high school (9-12). The Wantagh School District will have an 8 week leave replacement position for a special education teacher at Wantagh High School. The successful candidate must be driven, flexible and adaptable, as teaching responsibilities may include leading instruction for our students in special class (15:1:1) environments and/or Integrated Co-Teaching environments. Additionally, the successful candidate should possess the following: NYS Special Education Certification 7-12 or All GradesKnowledge and experience practicing differentiated instruction at all levels of academic abilityAbility to provide a learning environment that supports the social-emotional well-being of all students and challenge them to work to the best of their ability.Strong knowledge of instructional technology Desire to be a student advocateAbility to effectively communicate and build relationships with students, families, and faculty.
