Number of Positions : 1Salary: $52,422 Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson FallsWork Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00-4:00pmThe Network Security Engineer will take a proactive role in helping client school districts in the WSWHE BOCES region with improving their cybersecurity posture as per Part 121 of New York State Education Law (Ed. Law 2D), which requires compliance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework. As school districts continue to be targeted by threat actors, this position will provide crucial safeguards and remediation to help client districts keep abreast of current threats and take actions to avoid being compromised. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Administrator for Network and Technology Services. Performs related work as assigned.Analyzes and scans computer networks for vulnerabilities on Local Area Networks, District Area Networks, and Wide Area Networks of the BOCES and its client districts;Finds, isolates and mitigates Cybersecurity vulnerabilities and misconfigurations related to network equipment, Active Directory environments, and workstation operating systems;Prepares and presents detailed reports to technology leaders in client school districts and provide guidance or instruction on best practices for eliminating identified vulnerabilities;Maintains current knowledge of the cybersecurity threat landscape and provides summarized alerts and warnings to client school district technology leaders in a timely fashion;Provides real-time cybersecurity incident response in situations where a client district system has been threatened or infiltrated by threat actors; Collaborates and provides relevant communications with third-party vendors involved in endpoint detection and managed detection response;Maintains confidentiality in communications with district officials, law enforcement agencies, attorneys and/or cyber liability insurance companies, when such communications are required; Researches current, best-practices and solutions in the field of cybersecurity to provide recommendations to client school districts in a timely manner. Minimum Qualifications Possession of an associate degree or higher in Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of experience in networking technologies, OR Industry certified network training program with specialization in networking strategies, network architecture, equipment protocols, and capacity planning and four (4) years of experience in networking technologies, ORSix (6) years paid full-time experience in networking technologies.Diverse Candidates are encouraged to apply.
