Number of Positions: 1 Salary: Per SABEA Faculty Contract Location: TBD (various)Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am-2:45pmThis is a professional position involving responsibility for evaluating, planning and providing physical therapy treatment to students in accordance with written prescription or referral from a physician who provides medical direction. The Physical Therapist is responsible to the Director of Special Education for administrative purposes. Does related work as required.Evaluates the degree of function and disability of students unless contra-indicated by professional judgment or a physician's admission notes, and recommends treatment(s);Performs physical therapy procedures upon the written order or referral of a licensed physician, on school premises or during home visits;Participates with other personnel, parents and teachers in the formulation of students' total care plans and therapy schedules;Attends BOCES and inservice workshops;Develops or assists in the development of physical therapy policies, procedures, priorities, caseloads and assessment tools;Makes routine maintenance checks on wheelchairs and other equipment and when necessary arranges for their repair;Records on students' charts all physical therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes and consultations;Supervises students, volunteers and assistants in scheduling and carrying out physical therapy functions;Maintains program records including, but not limited to, the service budget and statistical reports of the frequency and types of treatment and number of students treated;Provides assistance and participates in purchasing activities.Minimum Qualifications:Licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as a Physical Therapist.Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.Note: Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by Washington County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Washington County to obtain a permanent appointment.
